Solid Shaft Inspection Device

Safety and reliability are the decisive criteria for the high-speed railway traffic of the future. The in use internationally proven systems make it possible to check wheelsets semi-automatically or fully automatically for cracks in the structure or on other stress injuries.
The intention of the test is to find the location of transversal damages in the wheel shaft. The particularly endangered ranges are the cross section variation considered, in particular from the wheel seats and the brake disk seats to the shaft.

Innovative characteristics:

Using of US-emitter group-technology
View of test picture on-line possible
Almost maintenance-free plant
Optional:
pre-located cleaning of rust/color
by it the test without additional effort is possible
no pollution at the machine a

Inspection Concept

The fundamental mechanical structure of the test stand essentially consists of three components. These are: Adjustable rolling stand with the necessary intake and discharge barricade as well as catch and ejection devices for the wheel set which can be tested; Portal with setting mechanisms for the probes inclusive probe holder, whereby a turn of the probe is possible around 180°; and a operating station with control computer, also a programmable controller (SPC) in the background.

Inspection Results
The measurement results are displayed graphically on a display or in tabular form. Tolerance Deviations are highlighted and color-coded. The data is stored and can be exported via different interfaces. The client supplies the accurate defaults. In the event of an error the operator can regard the A and C-pictures of the US channels concerned. In addition he can use on the one hand the noted data or on the other hand test again and watches the monitor to detect damages.

Mobile US Hollow Axle testing system

Safety and reliability are the decisive criteria for the high-speed railway traffic of the future. The in use internationally proven systems make it possible to check wheel sets semi-automatically or fully automatically for cracks in the structure or on other stress injuries.
The purpose of the testing facility is the mechanized and automated non destructive testing of assembled wheel sets with longitudinal drilling of different design with crosswise, along and volume errors.

The Test stand consists of:

- Feed unit (mechanical components and couple medium)
- Ultrasonic - Inspection system
- Data aquisition and evaluation
- Control unit

Conformity

The testing facility is conform to the requirements of the company guideline 907.0201 „Non destructive examination; Ultrasonic testing of wheel set axles with longitudinal drilling during the maintenance “of the Deutsche Bahn AG.

Inspection Concept
The inspection procedure starts with the adjusting of the centering ring on the wave face. After vertical positioning of the probe to the drilling center the operator clamps the unit over the centering ring at the axle face. Now the operator at the master computer starts the actual test procedure. The probe is inserted automatically to the drilling. At the same time the couple medium supply is released (oil).
At the same time the probe is moved into its test rotation of approx. 45 rpm and the probe is shifted into a predefined position. After that adjustment of the amplifier the probe drives into the starting position planned for the test and begins with the scanning of the wheel set axle.
